The companion mobile app for Brain Powers wearable assistive and educational platform for ASD (autism spectrum disorder) is designed to avoid the pitfall of “heads-down” electronic interventions.

The Empowered Brain suite includes the following sub-modules:

Emotion Charades -- In this sub-app, users tilt their head to choose the emoji that matches their partner’s expression, strengthening their emotional literacy. The two-player game creates a dialogue via prompts for the teacher/parent to read. Prompts assure deeper levels of emotional processing and foster a connection with the student.


Face2Face -- Guides the user to pay attention to faces, and makes a rewarding game out of eye contact. Users earn points and exciting cartoon rewards when they look toward a partner (e.g. teacher or parent) while wearing the lightweight computerized glasses.

Transition Master -- Transitions to new locations and routines cause many students stress and anxiety. This app provides an immersive 360-degree experience, with gamified rewards for exploration, which help familiarize users with new places before visiting them in real life.
